The mission of Covenant Presbyterian Church is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in order that the lost be found, believers be equipped, people in need be served, the lonely be enfolded into community, and God receive glory for it all.
Our life together is grounded in these core values:
We seek to focus on Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Our goal is to lead people to Jesus Christ so that through Him they may experience Gods saving love and be empowered for a lifelong journey of faith.
We believe the Bible is Gods Word to us, the only unfailing guide for faith and life. As we study and teach the Old and New Testaments we are drawn to the living center of our faith, Jesus Christ the Lord, our friend and Savior.
We want to be a place of spiritual nourishment and encouragement so that all ages experience Gods welcome. We want to extend our circle to include newcomers and help them find a place to belong at CPC. We encourage small groups and ministry teams that produce lifelong friendships.
We seek creative and meaningful ways to respond to Christs call to share His love in the world. We are serving in nursing homes, on the streets of downtown Boise, on the BSU campus, in homes all over town, and all over the globe in mission.
We believe the living and only true God is the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of all that exists. This One God is revealed in Scripture as the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In God is all the fullness of righteousness, justice, goodness and love. In life and in death we belong to God, whom alone we worship and serve.
We believe in Jesus Christ as truly God and truly human, born of the virgin Mary, who showed us in word and deed how to live, died for our sins, bodily rose from the grave, and ascended into heaven. Jesus Christ is Lord of all and Head of His Body the Church. He will return in glory to judge the world in righteousness, and reign forever.
We believe the Holy Spirit fills our hearts by faith, teaches us the way of Christ through Scripture, and gives gifts for Christian service to every believer. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, assures us that we are forgiven and made new in Christ, and empowers us to live the Christian life.
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the Word of God written. The same Holy Spirit who inspired the authors of the Bible also gives understanding to readers of the Bible who seek God's saving truth. The Bible calls all people to an obedient response to the Good News of God's saving love in Jesus Christ who is the Living Word. The Bible is the supreme authority and indispensable rule of Christian faith and life.
We joyfully affirm and stand on the historic orthodox foundation of Christianity as seen in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds and the other confessional standards of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.
The worship of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is at the center of our life together. As faithful disciples of Jesus, we desire to exalt and glorify God together. In worship we cultivate attitudes of awe, humility, joy, and thankfulness before God. Our priorities are redirected to God's Kingdom, so that what matters to God will matter to us.
We believe that Christ wants followers who are striving to be fully devoted to Him. Spiritual maturity is our goal for all believers. A willing disciple is marked by regular attendance in worship, regular discipline in prayer and Bible study, regular fellowship with other believers, discovering and using one's spiritual gifts for service, and growth towards tithing (10%) of one's financial resources to God's work.
We desire to be a family where Christ's love is demonstrated by our caring and support for one another. Love for brothers and sisters in Christ is one of the first marks of discipleship. We will strive to be evangelistic in our fellowship, welcoming and including friends, visitors, and new attendees.
We believe that the gift of God's saving love in Jesus Christ is too wonderful to keep to ourselves. It should be shared with all the love, conviction and energy God so abundantly supplies. We believe that God has called and equipped us to take the Good News to West Boise and beyond. We must have open doors and open hearts for the unchurched. In such a growing area, we should be a growing church. Each of us can be a bridge to others, so that they might discover a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The mission of the church throughout the world will be at the heart of our passion. We are called to take the Good News of Christ - in word and deed - to Boise and to the ends of the earth. We seek to be "salt and light" (Matthew 5: 13, 14) for God's Kingdom, trusting God's transforming grace for every person, as well as every social, economic and political area of life. We will study, pray, give and serve to the end that all people everywhere have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Good News.
